It seems as though India finds it cute that we, foriegners, keep tweeting about how good “RRR” is, and that it’s one of the best movies of 2022 etc. On Rotten Tomatoes, “RRR” has a 94% score based on 77 reviews. First reported by The Wrap yesterday, the respective ‘Deadpool’ and ‘Step Brothers’ stars have signed up for a musical adaptation of Christmas’ most famous story. The current studio-less film will be penned by Sean Anders, and directed by John Morris, who has previous with Ferrell following “Daddy’s Home.” Whilst their most recent offering ‘Instant Family’ outshone expectations at the box-office, taking over $67M domestic and over $120M worldwide. It is unclear as of yet which of the stars (if any) will portray the famous, fictitious, Christmas hating Ebenezer Scrooge, last seen on the big screen ten years ago in Robert Zemeckis’ animated take starring Jim Carrey, and with the project currently being shopped round, it will be interesting to see which studio would want to a gamble on yet another re-imagining of a classic....
I know, it’s crazy to insinuate that a movie that opened to a 3-day $130 million intake is a “flop.” However, Disney shareholders seem to be panicking nonetheless. Mostly due to the film opening below its expected $175 million intake. A $400 million worldwide opening is not a “flop,” but when it comes to Cameron’s sequel, the most expensive movie ever made, maybe it will turn out that way. This very time last year, “Spider-Man: No Way Home” opened to $260 million....
The Star Wars franchise is notorious for time jumping. In fact, six of the seven films released in the franchise have been followed by a sequel that takes placeat least a year later, the only film that didn’t? “The Last Jedi” which picked up right where Rey and Luke left off in “The Force Awakens.” Earlier in the year Disney CEO Bob Iger told Variety about a possible “course correction” after spinoff films like “Solo” failed to meet the label’s high commercial expectations....
