Variety:“Sources indicate that Anderson isn’t doing any press at all on the ground in Cannes, including a press conference for his latest France-set movie, which will premiere on Monday.” Of course, you’re getting all sorts of why’s and how comes from the festival yentas. Does this mean the film is problematic on some level? Of course not. At least, I hope. Has Anderson ever made a mediocre movie safe for his 1996 debut “Bottle Rocket”? I can’t think of one. I was lukewarm on “The Life Aquatic” when it first premiered back in 2004, but subsequent viewings have totally redeemed it as an infectious cult classic.  ‘Dispatch’ was supposed to premiere at last year’s Cannes, but we all know what happened with that inevitably canceled edition. Maybe Anderson’s just in a different mindset at the moment, caught up in his next movie (set to start shoot in Spain right after Cannes).  Contribute Hire me
